Observation - Older (highly active) lysin prep was no longer active
Was active with other cells as substrate
Original cells work if Triton added before incubation
No time of addition effect with SDS
Interpretation - low CMC of Triton restricts detergent access to membranes
Earliest digestion stages likely the most resistant to Triton
