PBCV salt treatment
25ul of PBCV was diluted with 75ul of pH 7 buffer (25mM K, MOPS). Aliquots of 10M LiCl were added and samples were incubated 20 min at 37C. 5ul aliquots assayed for lysin (PBi cells, 30min incubation at 37C)
The major virtue of LiCl is it's high solubility
0.5 and especially 1M LiCl effectively extract lysin from virus preps. The 2M sample may contain enough salt to inhibit the lysin assay.
