Intact PBCV is large and multivalent and therefore readily precipitated by PBCV antibodies.

WAL lysin requires larger amounts of antibody for one of two reasons:

Antibody to WAL lysin is a minor component of anti-PBCV

WAL lysin is mono(oligo)valent and precipitates weakly or not at all
