Alginate lyase activity
Plate contains 0.5% agarose, 0.2% sodium alginate (brown algae) in K-MOPS buffer ( pH7)
After incubating 2 hrs plate was develped w/10% cetyl pyridinium chloride (cationic detergent)
Only commercial alginate lyase (Flavobacterium sp.) gave a clear zone. PBCV lysin, A215L and ammonium sulfate cuts from lysin supernatants gave no clearing after overnight incubation
Conclusion: Good assay, but not for algal virus products
