7-39 is a long range box. 7-54 is a midrange box. The latter is clearly superior for EtBr. Most users are unaware of the far red light. Through a long pass filter (cuts off stray blue) the box is red and bulbs are visible. Through a short pass filter (cuts off far red) the box is blue. Combine the 2 and voila! the box is totally black. The combination of a 460 longpass and a 650 shortpass should work exceptionally well.
