Lysin preps - reduction and alkylation
PBCV1, phenol extracted virion (LiCl extracted) lysin and phenol extracted WAL lysin
Left of each pair reduced and alkylated, right alklyated only
Left set - 4 microliters, right set 12 microliters
Note that PBCV1 has several proteins which are sensitive to reduction
The high MW smear in lysin preps is insensitive to reduction and alkylation
The high MW smear could be related to the largest virion protein
