Algal cells are detergent (Triton, SDS) resistant
Lysin renders them detergent sensitive
Sensitivity detected by chlorophyll release
Assay - add detergent, incubate (10s of minutes) pellet cells, observe chlorophyll (fluorescence) in supernatant
